The Saskatchewan River Valley
We hold ground on both sides of the North Saskatchewan river valley. The valley runs pine and poplar forest, with open grass meadows breaking out through the river hills and across the top of the plateau. These properties — and the elk on them — have been hunted and managed by the Dunham family for over 30 years.

A classic prairie ranch — thick bush mixed with open meadows covered in grass and buck brush. This is textbook elk habitat, in essentially the same condition it was 150 years ago.

Our newest property is quite literally the backyard; you can look at it from the deck of the lodge. It has easy ATV access to both sides of the Blackfoot creek valley it sits on, and we are introducing hunting there for the first time in 2026.

Timbered ridges and valleys create natural bedding cover and bugling grounds — bulls use them to rest, check cows and vocalize at dawn and dusk. The North Saskatchewan river corridors act as lifelines; elk move along them all day, especially during the rut. When a bull bugles across a valley here, the sound does not just carry, it resonates in your chest. Meadows and cutlines become the high-odds ambush sites: those edges where timber meets open feed see steady traffic through the rut and heavy use when a cold snap pushes elk out to feed early.

The lodge is the heart of High Caliber Ranch. It is where we greet our hunters and where the first impression is made. It is where hunters are served great meals and refreshments, where everyone from staff to guests gathers, and where the day's adventures get recapped every night.
Rooms & capacity
The lodge accommodates 10 guests. There are 4 private single rooms split between the lodge and the bunkhouse, and 2 of those singles have private bathrooms — these are the ones most often requested or reserved for guests travelling with a spouse. The remaining rooms have two queen beds with easy access to washrooms. Between the private and shared rooms, everyone gets genuine rest. You wake up refreshed, not cramped. The dining hall is spacious and doubles as the hub for meals and nightly strategy sessions.

What makes the lodge work is not the amenities — it is the people. The cooks and staff have been with the Dunhams for 15+ years, and our camp chef has been here over a decade. That kind of continuity is rare in outfitting and it shows: meals arrive on time, hot and hearty; rooms are prepared with the same care every season; details are not missed because they are second nature. At the table
Early mornings start with straightforward breakfasts — steaming coffee, fresh bread, fruit and hot bites to carry you into the first hunt. Midday meals are served hot in the field tent; filling, and exactly what you need mid-hunt. Evening dinners are the highlight. Back at the lodge you sit down to multi-course meals that often include game harvested during the season. Plates are full, flavours are bold, and beer or wine is included in moderation.

Check-in is 11:00 a.m. You eat lunch, confirm your zero at the range, and head out for a half-day hunt that same afternoon. On your final day there is a morning hunt if you need it, then checkout at 11:00 a.m.

Yes. Companions are welcome for an additional fee, arranged in advance and subject to lodge capacity. Two of our private single rooms have private bathrooms and are often reserved for guests with spouses.
